Hello Families!

Attendance is the most important part of school. Did you know that students who attend 90% or more of the school year are much more likely to be healthier and to earn higher wages in adulthood? This habit starts in kindergarten and has lasting consequences for life.

Students who are chronically absent in elementary school often do not develop the skills to read at grade level, have strong relationships, or succeed in math class. These are all very important skills to develop for their future success.

Currently at Bohemia our percentage of regular attenders, students who are here 90% or more of the days, is 79.4%. This means that 1 in 5 students has already lost a week of instruction due to absences.

To encourage better attendance we do attendance calendars every month, which your student can turn in the first three days of the month to get a prize from the office. We also have month-long competitions quarterly to celebrate students coming to school.

We understand that things happen, but even if your student has a small cough or sniffles, they should be coming to school so they don’t miss out on the learning that takes place here every day. Our goal is to have over 80% of our students be regular attenders this year, so please help us by sending your student every day.

K: 64.3%

1st: 81.3%

2nd: 82.3%

3rd: 71.4%

4th: 94.7%

5th: 76.6%
