SLSD State Ordered School Closure

Thank you for your patience and flexibility with this entire coronavirus/COVID-19 situation. As you probably know, late Thursday night, Governor Kate Brown directed all Oregon schools to close March 16th through March 31st, with students returning April 1st. Also late on Thursday, district administrators noticed that we had an abnormally large number of substitute requests for Friday the 13th, which would have made daily operations difficult for students and staff. With that information, district administration decided to close our schools. All events, performances, functions, competitions and meetings will continue to be canceled through April 8th.

3/18/20 Closure Update

We hope that even in these are trying and stressful times, that you and your family are well. We wanted to take this opportunity to reach out and communicate how we will continue to serve your student(s).

As many of you have heard, the school closure has been extended to April 28th. This action by the governor aligns with other measures across the state, which are all meant to slow the spread of the virus. SLSD Canceling School Events, Gatherings, Field Trips

With the number of confirmed coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Oregon increasing, Governor Kate Brown announced new guidance regarding group gatherings and social distancing. We remain committed to keeping our schools open and safe. In accordance with this guidance and in order to minimize potential opportunities for the virus to spread, we will begin suspending events that bring large groups of students, adults, and community members together. This action is not related to an identified COVID-19 case. At this time, there are no cases identified in South Lane School District or in Lane County.

Information about the Coronavirus

As you are aware, a new strain of the novel coronaviruses, COVID-19, has been found in just a few people in Oregon. The State of Oregon, county health authorities and South Lane School District are all closely monitoring the situation. We are monitoring updates from the Oregon Health Authority and Lane County Health Department. 



At this point in time, we are operating South Lane Schools as usual. We will notify you if we find it necessary to take more precautionary measures.

This Week at Bohemia: Feb 10-14

We are excited to continue with our artist in residence program. We are able to fund this program thanks to your generous donations to our Parent Teacher Committee through our school wide fundraisers of the Fall Festival and Jog-a-thon. THANK YOU!

The artist Mr. Kelly Thibodeaux will be joining Bohemia to instruct each class in a week long program of learning how to play the fiddle. We want to invite all family members to your child’s class showcase where they will play for you what they learned throughout the week.

Next week we will be highlighting the 1st Grade classes. Please join us at Bohemia Elementary for your child's classroom showcase on Friday, February 21st.
